I Went to Japan's BIGGEST Retro Game Store
I rented a car and drove across Japan to dig through the junk bins of Hard Off, the biggest secondhand store chain in the country. Here's what I found!

Hey, I'm Nick from Trainer Tips, and I'm officially uploading on my second channel today. This channel has been around for over 10 years and features some very old videos of my friends and I, which I've left up for you to browse - and to serve as a reminder of how far I've come. As an intro to the second channel, I figured I'd make a little video explaining what my plans are. Stick around if yo...

"Another day, another hard off" yep
Japan is heaven for gamers😍😍🤤
I visited that store in Hachioji last year many times, and many more times in previous years. I used to live in a city very close to there with my wife called Hino City. The next time you go, I recommend that you visit the Tachikawa train station because nearby there is a department store called Takashimaya and there you will find many more shiny gems. They have video games that you will never find in the USA or other parts of Japan. Unless you pass through Harajuku.
Can you play those pokemon games for rhe ds in English
Great green shell but the pink is ugly (even if it is for a venusaur/meganium look)
I WISH we had stuff like this in America. It would sure beat scouring eBay for a listing of Pokemon Emerald under $150.
Where do you buy your mods from?
八王子大和田店やんけ
8:30 wait till i tell you that you can unlock a gamecube like hella easy
Where do you order your screens from?
I am under the assumption that everything in these videos are region locked and nothing will work in North America? For example the GBA will only play Japanese games and nothing from North America?
need to go here so baddd
You're supposed to be an adult. Time to put away childish things. 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆 Adults playing Pokemon, it's sad and hilarious at the same time 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
bad bait. 0/10
@@shrimpiee56 I'm not even joking. Is it too late to abort Gen Z ?
Hey it’s Pokemon go dude! Wow haven’t seen you in a while
ハードオフはどの県にも一つはあってそこを回るだけでも楽しいですよね!
what about taxes? is there any problems in importing items like gameboys and games into other countries? iam in japan in september, and want to get a couple of retro gaming stuff for my collection. i want to import to germany
Does hard off have football shirts?
You are living my dream
nice
Wish i would've watched thus before i splurged money on everything Retro during my trip, BUT I will keep it for the next trip 10/10 video thank you!
I loved going to BookOff and WonderGOO when I was living in Japan. I would go just about every day after school and could spend hours looking through stuff. By the time I came back home, I ended up having to buy an extra suitcase, leave some old clothes like socks and undershirts behind to make room in my original suitcase, and mail some stuff home XD I ended up being right around 2 pounds under the maximum allowed weight limit for luggage (which was SUPER fun having to get from train stop to train stop going to the airport). The prices were super amazing, especially compared to more recent months. I bought all the copies of Gen 1-2 Pokemon I could find, and was easily finding them for $1-2, even found a few Black/White/Diamond/Pearl for under $5 each. Music CDs were also a straight up steal over there. CDs that would easily be resold at places like anime conventions back in the US for $10-20+ were as cheap as $.10-.50 each in the "junk" section, and often looked brand new.
you must have lots of self control for not buying everything
I’ve always wanted the Orange game cube controller
I miss living in Japan so much!!!😫
Oral B Brushhead coming to rescue
When you want to browse games but your toilets broken.
GG
My bank account would be fucked
Stop cursing its a sin dude
I enjoy watching videos like this since in the future i hope i can do stuff like this! :)
Hard Off sounds like a western dirty joke
bro where'd you go
The exact opposite of hard on. This game store is flacid
"Another day, another Hard Off", perfect.
I can't tell if this guy is a teenager or 40… 🧐
Than he’s probably 30
@@Bookableclaw “*then” 🤓
What gb color games can you get for twenty 😊😮
sadly all of these games arent in english or whatever language is yours
WiiU a faliure? What a blasphemy!
That celebi disk is 150 on ebay and usually those are on their own no case etc. so I think 120 is a solid deal for something you're getting in a store.
I’ve never heard of a hard “off” only the opposite 🤣🤣🤣
Yhea thats what it called crunch
37 for gba sp I'd buy probably 2 or 3
Pink and green color combo always looks so dang good !!
Do you know a store/shops in Fukuoka Japan sells retro gaming console? cheap price?, thanks godbless more power to your channel kabayan! =) 😃
Hey nick if you don’t mind me asking how long did it take you to mod this gameboy? I’m looking at trying out this new hobby and I just wanted some info on how long it usually takes.
Is this worth all that time to put into it how many hours can you spend on a small screen.
What are the best near tokyo also with junk section amd lots of retro console's? Please help haha thx!
Those DSL pulls were gold - very cheap for nicely taken care of handheld. And My fav Pkmn silver and gold - for 2 $ ? Insane.
